Kathmandu, September 16, 2025 — Nepal’s new Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Kulman Ghising, has formed a task force to promote the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) across the country. He initiated this action shortly after assuming his ministerial post on Monday.
The Minister assembled a team of key officials to lead the initiative. The group includes the Director General of Transport Management, the ministry’s Under-Secretary for Law, and the Under-Secretary of the Internal Management Branch. The head of the ministry’s Infrastructure Construction and Transport Division will supervise the task force, and the Senior Divisional Engineer of the Mechanical Department will serve as its Secretary.
Minister Ghising has directed the task force to submit a comprehensive report within seven days. The group’s mandate covers several critical areas. It will review Nepal’s existing policies, laws, and institutional frameworks related to electric vehicles. The task force will also suggest new quality and safety standards for EVs entering the market.
