Proton is a Malaysian automotive brand established in 1983, known for producing affordable and reliable vehicles. In December 2024, Proton launched its first electric vehicle, the e.MAS 7, marking a significant step in its electrification journey. The e.MAS 7 is a compact electric SUV developed in collaboration with Geely, utilizing the Geely Electric Architecture platform. It offers two battery options: a 49.5 kWh battery providing a range of up to 345 km, and a 60.2 kWh battery offering up to 410 km, with DC fast charging capabilities that can charge the battery from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes. Priced competitively between RM 109,800 and RM 123,800, the e.MAS 7 aims to make electric mobility more accessible to Malaysians. Proton plans to expand its EV lineup with the upcoming e.MAS 5, a more affordable model expected to be priced around RM 80,000, further promoting the adoption of electric vehicles in the region.
