Nepal’s electric vehicle market is preparing for yet another highly anticipated wave of new entrants this season. SPG Automobiles, the authorized distributor of Chery vehicles in the country, has officially confirmed that the all-new Chery Q will make its grand public debut very soon.

According to organizers, the premium B-segment urban EV crossover will be officially unveiled at the upcoming NAIMA Mobility Expo 2026.

The landmark automotive exhibition is scheduled to take place from August 11 to 16 at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu. Because local buyers are rapidly pivoting toward eco-friendly transport, this compact lifestyle model aims to attract tech-savvy urban commuters and small families alike.

Modern Urban Aesthetics and Smart Space Management

First and foremost, the Chery Q is built on a dedicated, modern EV architecture that maximizes interior space. Even though it retains compact, city-friendly dimensions with a length of 4,195 mm, it boasts a remarkably generous 2,700 mm wheelbase. Therefore, occupants can enjoy a flat-floor cabin layout with plenty of legroom.

Visually, the crossover perfectly balances a youthful persona with high-end premium textures. It adopts clean, aerodynamic body lines, semi-concealed flush door handles, and a signature closed-off front fascia.

Furthermore, the model addresses everyday commuter utility quite brilliantly. The standard rear boot holds 375 liters of cargo, which seamlessly expands to a massive 1,450 liters when you fold the rear seats flat. Additionally, lifting the front bonnet reveals a practical 35-liter front trunk (frunk) designed to store charging cables cleanly.

Battery, Range, and High-Performance Powertrain

Beneath its sleek sheet metal, the Chery Q relies on highly reliable battery tech to tackle long-distance commutes easily. The vehicle features a robust 41.2 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack sourced from top-tier cell manufacturers.

This advanced power pack is paired with a highly efficient 90 kW permanent magnet synchronous electric motor. Because the motor is mounted directly on the rear axle, the vehicle utilizes an agile Rear-Wheel-Drive (RWD) configuration.

Consequently, the powertrain produces approximately 121 hp of peak power and 115 Nm of instant torque. According to the factory documentation, this combination delivers a highly competitive driving range of up to 400 kilometers on a single charge under the NEDC testing cycle. As a result, drivers can navigate a full week of Kathmandu traffic without constantly hunting for a charging station.

Ultra-Fast DC Charging and V2L Functionality

In addition to a solid driving range, Chery has significantly prioritized rapid charging turnarounds for highway convenience. The premium urban crossover fully supports high-capacity 85 kW DC fast charging systems.

Under optimal thermal conditions, the battery can replenish from 30% to 80% in just 16 minutes. Therefore, brief pit stops during out-of-valley road trips are kept down to an absolute minimum.

Standout Utility Hardware:

  • Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) System: This bi-directional charging port transforms your vehicle into a massive mobile power bank. Consequently, you can power external home appliances, camping gear, or laptops during outdoor weekend getaways.
  • Liquid Thermal Management: A smart liquid-cooling loop constantly monitors core battery temperatures. As a result, battery health is thoroughly preserved even during intense fast-charging cycles in hotter regions.

Intelligent Cockpit and Advanced Safety Controls

Step inside the cabin, and the vehicle quickly establishes itself as a highly integrated mobile tech hub. The minimalist dashboard is completely anchored by a massive, floating 15.6-inch 2.5K intelligent multimedia touchscreen.

Driven by a premium Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor, the system responds instantly to touch commands and voice prompts. Furthermore, it offers full over-the-air (OTA) updates, a 50W wireless phone charging pad, and seamless smartphone mirroring.

Structural and Electronic Safety: The chassis shell utilizes 68% high-strength steel to form a highly resilient safety cage. Meanwhile, the car is packed with six airbags, a 540-degree panoramic surround-view camera array, and full Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

Ultimately, while variant-wise trim sheets and pricing structures remain closely guarded secrets until the expo doors open, SPG Automobiles intends to price the vehicle aggressively. With premium features packed into a compact footprint, the Chery Q is poised to give established entry-level EV players a serious run for their money.
