2027 Electric MOKE Mk2 Revealed With 105-Mile Range

MOKE Mk2

The iconic beach car is getting a new electric upgrade. MOKE International has revealed the 2027 Electric MOKE Mk2 with a larger battery, a claimed 105-mile range and more practical storage. However, this open-air EV focuses more on relaxed coastal drives than long-distance travel.

Electric MOKE Mk2 Gets a Major Upgrade

MOKE International unveiled the Electric MOKE Mk2 at the Paris Motor Show, running from October 12 to 18, 2026. The new model retains the distinctive open-top design of the original MOKE while improving its electric powertrain and everyday usability.

Unlike conventional electric SUVs, the MOKE is a compact beach car designed around leisure driving. Its open-air cabin, simple layout and retro-inspired styling make it particularly suited to coastal destinations and holiday resorts.

Moreover, the Mk2 brings a larger battery, revised vehicle layout and updated controls. As a result, MOKE aims to make its electric beach car more practical without losing its distinctive character.

105-Mile Range With a Larger Battery

The biggest change comes from the battery. The new Electric MOKE Mk2 uses a reported 23.5 kWh battery pack, almost doubling the range of the previous version.

According to MOKE International, the vehicle delivers up to 105 miles (170 km) of range under the WLTP test cycle. The company has also reported real-world testing results of up to 115 miles (185 km) in city and coastal environments.

However, actual range can vary depending on driving style, weather, passenger load, route and battery condition. Therefore, buyers should treat the official figure as a comparison benchmark rather than a guaranteed everyday result.

The vehicle also features a 33 kW electric motor. Although that output is modest compared with larger electric cars, it suits the MOKE’s lightweight, leisure-focused purpose.

Charging Takes Around Two Hours

The Electric MOKE Mk2 features a 6.6 kW onboard AC charger. According to the manufacturer, charging from 20% to 80% takes approximately two hours when using a compatible 6.6 kW AC supply.

Meanwhile, a standard 3.2 kW domestic supply in the UK or Europe can recharge the battery fully in around seven hours.

However, the Mk2 does not offer DC rapid charging, according to launch coverage. This means owners will need to plan charging around their daily use rather than relying on quick charging stops during long journeys.

For a vehicle primarily designed for beaches, resorts and short leisure trips, this arrangement may be sufficient. Nevertheless, it makes the MOKE less suitable for drivers who frequently travel long distances.

Classic Beach-Car Design Meets Practical Features

The Mk2 keeps the MOKE’s familiar open-air appearance. Instead of adopting the large screens and complex cabin layouts found in many modern EVs, it focuses on straightforward controls and a relaxed driving experience.

One notable improvement is the addition of an 86-litre lockable front storage compartment. This space can hold everyday essentials, small bags and beach equipment, helping keep the passenger area less cluttered.

In addition, MOKE has updated the central control panel and introduced a rotary gear selector. The charging port has also moved to the rear of the vehicle, creating a cleaner appearance.

Other cabin features include:

  • USB-C connectivity
  • 12V power outlet
  • Rear cup holders
  • Wider footwells
  • Updated warning-light visibility
  • A choice of exterior colours

Furthermore, the Mk2 expands its colour options. Buyers in European markets can choose from shades such as Sonoma Red, Laguna Blue, Venice White, Wave Blue, Sunlight Yellow and Sunset Orange, depending on the available collection.

2027 Electric MOKE Mk2 Price and Availability

The Electric MOKE Mk2 has a reported European recommended retail price of €35,000, excluding local taxes and government incentives.

MOKE International says the vehicle is available to test-drive, rent or purchase in several European markets. However, availability will depend on the local retail partner and market.

There is currently no confirmed launch date or official price for Nepal. Interested buyers would need to confirm import eligibility, local registration requirements, taxes and after-sales support before considering an import.

Although the Mk2 may appeal to luxury resorts, hospitality businesses and leisure-focused buyers, its limited range and lack of DC rapid charging mean it serves a different purpose from a conventional electric car.

Can the Electric MOKE Mk2 Succeed Beyond Beach Resorts?

The MOKE Mk2 takes a different approach to electric mobility. Rather than competing with family SUVs on space, performance or highway range, it focuses on open-air driving and short leisure journeys.

Its larger battery and added storage improve practicality, while the familiar styling keeps the vehicle distinctive. However, the €35,000 starting price is substantial for a vehicle with a 105-mile official range.

Ultimately, the Electric MOKE Mk2 is aimed at buyers who value character and the driving experience as much as specifications. For beach destinations and holiday resorts, it could offer a unique electric alternative. For everyday long-distance travel, a conventional EV with faster charging and greater range may be more practical.
