River Mobility Enters Nepal With Indie Electric Scooter at Rs. 3.70 Lakh
River Mobility has entered Nepal with its award-winning Indie electric scooter, offering a 160 km claimed range, 55 litres of storage and a rugged design built for everyday roads.
River Mobility Enters Nepal With Indie Electric Scooter
Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer River Mobility has officially entered Nepal with its flagship River Indie electric scooter. The company has partnered with Vishal Group to introduce the scooter and establish local sales and after-sales support.
The brand initially introduced the Indie to Nepali customers at the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026. More recently, River opened its first international retail store in Naxal, Kathmandu, on October 11, 2026.
The new outlet offers scooter bookings, test rides, accessories and merchandise. In addition, River has established a dedicated service centre in Bhimsenthan, Kathmandu, to support customers after purchase.
According to Autocar Professional, the company also plans to expand its retail and service network across other major cities in Nepal.
River Indie Price in Nepal
River has launched the Indie electric scooter in Nepal at an official price of Rs. 3,70,000.
At this price, the Indie targets buyers looking for a practical electric scooter with strong storage capacity, high ground clearance and everyday usability. Unlike many conventional scooters, River promotes the Indie as the “SUV of Scooters” because of its rugged design and utility-focused features.
The scooter could appeal to daily commuters as well as riders who frequently travel on uneven roads. However, buyers should compare its real-world range and charging requirements with their daily travel needs before purchasing.
160 km Range and 4 kWh Battery
The River Indie features a 4 kWh lithium-ion battery that delivers a claimed IDC range of up to 160 km on a full charge.
However, actual range can vary depending on riding speed, passenger weight, road conditions, terrain and riding mode. Frequent uphill rides and aggressive acceleration may also reduce the distance covered on a single charge.
Meanwhile, the scooter reaches a claimed top speed of 90 km/h. This makes it suitable for everyday urban commuting and selected longer trips, depending on local road conditions.
River has also designed the Indie to handle inclines of up to 18 degrees. As a result, its performance-focused setup could prove useful on Nepal’s hilly roads.
Powerful Motor and Practical Riding Features
The River Indie uses a mid-drive electric motor with a peak output of 6.7 kW. This setup supports everyday acceleration while helping the scooter manage inclines.
Furthermore, the Indie offers three riding modes, allowing riders to adjust its behaviour according to their needs. Regenerative braking also helps recover some energy during deceleration.
The scooter includes reverse assist, which can make parking and manoeuvring in tight spaces easier. In addition, its combined braking system helps distribute braking force between the wheels.
Although these features improve convenience, the scooter’s actual performance will depend on riding conditions and how riders use its different modes.
Rugged Design With 177 mm Ground Clearance
The River Indie stands out with its angular bodywork, broad front section and practical proportions. Its design prioritises utility rather than the sleek, compact appearance found on many traditional city scooters.
The scooter gets 14-inch alloy wheels, which help it handle uneven urban roads. Moreover, 177 mm of ground clearance gives it useful clearance over speed breakers and rougher surfaces.
River also includes telescopic front suspension and tubeless tyres. Together, these components support everyday riding comfort and practicality.
The company has tested the Indie on Kathmandu roads, including uphill routes around White Gumba. Therefore, its entry into Nepal follows real-world evaluation of local riding conditions.
55 Litres of Storage Makes It Practical
One of the River Indie’s biggest highlights is its storage capacity. The scooter offers a combined 55 litres of storage, comprising a 43-litre under-seat compartment and a 12-litre glovebox.
Consequently, riders have room for helmets, groceries, work equipment and other everyday items. This capacity could be particularly useful for commuters who carry belongings regularly.
The Indie also features front footpegs that allow riders to stretch their legs into a different riding position. Meanwhile, its fully digital display and LED lighting add modern touches to the overall package.
Other features include fast-charging support, riding modes and regenerative braking. However, buyers should confirm charging times and charger compatibility with the Nepal distributor.

River Indie Brings a New Option to Nepal’s EV Market
River Mobility’s arrival adds another electric two-wheeler brand to Nepal’s growing EV market. Its focus on storage, ground clearance and utility gives the Indie a distinct position among electric scooters.
Moreover, the 4 kWh battery, 6.7 kW motor and claimed 160 km range make it an option worth considering for buyers who want more than a basic city commuter.
Nevertheless, the final buying decision will depend on real-world range, charging convenience, service access and long-term ownership costs. River’s planned expansion beyond Kathmandu will also play an important role in building customer confidence.
With its Rs. 3.70 lakh price tag and newly opened Kathmandu outlet, the River Indie marks the beginning of River Mobility’s international retail expansion in Nepal.
